Will amend the anti-sacrifice law: Mann

  Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced this evening after a meeting with members of the Sant Samaj and religious leaders at the Circuit House in Amritsar that the Punjab government will convene a special session of the Vidhan Sabha on April 13 to amend the Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act-2008 and bring in a strict law.

The proposed law will have provisions for stringent punishment, heavy fines, confiscation of property and bringing crimes committed through digital content under its ambit, the draft of which is being prepared in consultation with the Sant Samaj and legal experts. The Chief Minister said that the session will be convened on the auspicious occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas and the act will be made in consultation with the Sant Samaj and legal experts. To ensure exemplary punishment for the perpetrators of this heinous crime, opinions of eminent lawyers from across the country will also be taken while drafting this law.
