Eid celebrated with enthusiasm across the country

  Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with full zeal and religious fervor across the country today. The Muslim community offered prayers in Eidgahs and mosques at various places. At many places, the worshippers also wore black bands on their arms to express their anger against the war in West Asia. The largest gathering was held at Aishbagh Eidgah in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. About five lakh people offered prayers at the Eidgah.

On this occasion, special prayers were offered for brotherhood, progress and peace in the country. Eid was also celebrated with full fervor in Jhansi, Sambhal, Kaushambi, Mau, Bareilly and Amethi of UP. Representatives of Sikh and Christian religions also participated in the gatherings held on the occasion of Eid. Many senior leaders including Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav also attended these gatherings. Eid was also celebrated with full fervor in Madhya Pradesh. Shia and Sunni families offered prayers in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore, Ujjain, Burhanpur and other places. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, after offering prayers at the Hazratbal Dargah, said that the 'unlawful' war imposed on the world by America and Israel should end as soon as possible.
