10 kg silver, foreign currency and crores of rupees crash... ED action in online gaming case, Congress MLA arrested

  The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested a Congress MLA from Karnataka. The agency also raided properties and residences of KC Virendra at 30 locations in Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Rajasthan and seized crores of rupees as well as jewellery. The MLA was allegedly running several online betting sites.

The ED said that the Bengaluru team on Friday conducted searches at 30 locations against Chitradurga city MLA KC Virendra and others, including six in Chitradurga district, 10 in Bengaluru, three in Jodhpur, one in Hubli, two in Mumbai and eight premises in Goa.

The locations in Goa included five casinos - Puppy's Casino Gold, Ocean Rivers Casino, Puppy's Casino Pride, Ocean 7 Casino and Big Daddy Casino. The searches were conducted in a case related to illegal online and offline betting.

Connections from Dubai also found
The ED said, investigation has revealed that the accused was running several online betting sites with names like King567, Raja567, Puppies003 and Ratna Gaming. Besides, the accused's brother, KC Thipeswamy is running three business entities from Dubai - Diamond Softech, TRS Technologies and Prime9 Technologies, which are linked to KC Virendra's call centre service and gaming operations.

Cash and jewellery worth Rs 12 crore seized
In the raid at the MLA's house, cash worth Rs 12 crore, including foreign currency worth about Rs one crore, gold jewellery worth Rs 6 crore, about 10 kg of silver items and four vehicles have been recovered. It is worth noting that this action by the ED has been taken a few days after the Online Gaming Bill was passed by Parliament.
