DGCA's big action against Air India, 4 show cause notices issued for these shortcomings

DGCA has taken action against Air India. These notices have been issued for violating air travel rules. The DGCA has been in action mode ever since the Ahmedabad air crash. The regulator has issued four show-cause notices for various violations related to cabin crew rest and duty rules, cabin crew training rules and operational procedures.

This information has been given a month after the airline made certain voluntary disclosures to the regulator. Sources told PTI that these show-cause notices were issued on July 23 based on the voluntary disclosures made by the airline to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on June 20 and 21.

An Air India spokesperson said in a statement, "We are aware of the receipt of these notices from the regulator relating to certain voluntary disclosures made by Air India in the last one year. We will respond to these notices within the stipulated time." We are committed to the safety of our crew and passengers.

Sources said that three show cause notices have been issued based on voluntary disclosures made by Air India on June 20, involving violations of cabin crew duty and rest norms in respect of at least four ultra-long haul flights.
