Pakistan spread fake news about attack on Nankana Sahib Gurdwara, government rejects claims and fake news

The spate of misleading and fake news regarding the standoff between India and Pakistan after Operation Sindoor continues. The government on Saturday dismissed claims that India has carried out a drone attack on the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said that such content is being circulated to spread national hatred in India.

A video shared on the internet claims that India has carried out a drone attack on the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara. The PIB said that this claim is completely false. The Gurdwara is a holy pilgrimage site for Sikhs.

Reports circulated on the internet and some news platforms that claimed that Pakistan has destroyed the Udhampur airbase in Jammu and Kashmir have also been dismissed. The PIB Fact Check Unit dismissed the claim and said that the Udhampur airbase is operational.

The PIB Fact Check Unit also reported that there is a rise in misinformation against India, which is being propagated mainly through Pakistani media and internet media platforms. The PIB described this misinformation campaign as a form of psychological warfare, aimed at spreading terror and confusion among Indian citizens. The PIB also refuted claims that India's power grid has been destroyed in a cyber attack by Pakistan and that the Mumbai-Delhi air route has been temporarily closed. The PIB's fact-checking team has debunked more than 20 false claims in the last three days.
