Australian universities ban Indian students, decision taken after increase in fake applications

  Melbourne: After the increase in fake applications, five universities in Australia have banned the admission of students from some Indian states. The number of Indian students in Australia this year may cross the highest figure of 75 thousand in 2019.

The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper said on Tuesday that with the current increase in the number of students, parliamentarians and people in the education sector have expressed concern about the longitudinal impact on Australia's immigration system and the country's international education market. John Chew of global education firm Navitas said the number of incoming students was much higher than expected. We knew that there would be an increase in the number, but along with this, the number of fake students has also increased. The report states that to deal with this situation, Victoria University, Edith Cowan University, Wollongong University, Torrance University and Southern Cross University have banned the applications of some Indian students. These include students from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
