US President Donald Trump has warned that any country doing business or doing business with Russia will face “very strong sanctions”. Trump’s threat comes as his administration and Republican lawmakers are moving towards tougher legislation targeting Moscow. Asked by reporters whether it was time for Congress to pass legislation to pressure Russia and President Vladimir Putin, Trump said, “I hear they’re doing it, and that’s fine with me.” The US president said, “They’re passing legislation… Republicans are making legislation… There will be very strong sanctions on any country doing business with Russia… They could include Iran… I suggested that.” It is worth noting that the Trump administration had imposed an additional 25 percent tax on India as a penalty for buying Russian oil. The US currently levies a 50 percent tariff on goods imported from India. The bill, introduced by Senator Lindsey Graham, proposes a 500 percent tariff on the secondary purchase and resale of Russian oil. The proposal has received near-unanimous support from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
