Due to the rain, 11 people have died so far, while dozens of people are reported missing. According to China's official media Global Times, 27 people have gone missing in the floods. After several days of continuous heavy rain, two people died in Mentogu district of western Beijing. Another district on the outskirts of Beijing has seen its heaviest rainfall in a decade since Sunday. The heaviest rain since July 21, 2012 Meanwhile, Beijing's average rainfall between 8am on Saturday and 6am on Monday was 138.3mm, totaling 2.097 billion cubic meters of rain. Liu Bin, deputy commander of the Beijing Municipal Flood Control Office, said, 'The average rainfall in Beijing has reached the level of the typhoon of July 21, 2012, in which 79 people died due to heavy rain. This time, the average rainfall in Fangshan and Mantogu districts has reached 400 mm, which is more than the rainfall on 21 July 2012.
