US Firing: Indiscriminate shooting during family party in Houston, one dead, 14 injured in uninvited guest's firing

  A shooting at a family party in the US city of Houston on Sunday morning left one person dead and 14 people injured. The incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. Sunday in the 6000 block of Cherry Hill in southeast Houston. As soon as the Houston Police Department received reports of shots fired, officers arrived on the scene within minutes. Police found several people injured in various places in and around the house. An unwanted guest at the party opened fire Police Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu said at a press conference that the incident occurred during a family party where an unwanted guest was asked to leave the house. This person started shooting, after which some other people also returned fire. The Houston Fire Department also arrived on the scene and confirmed that one person was killed. According to Cantu, many of the injured have been admitted to hospitals in serious condition, while some of the injured have reached nearby hospitals on their own and sought treatment. Several people detained Police have detained several people following the incident, but it is not yet clear whether the main accused who fired the shots is in police custody. The investigation was ongoing as of Sunday morning.
