A blow to Donald Trump, the lawsuit against the 'Wall Street Journal' is dismissed

A federal judge on Saturday threw out Donald Trump's $10 billion defamation suit against The Wall Street Journal and media mogul Rupert Murdoch over a story about his affair with Jeffrey Epstein, saying the president was "grabbing straws."

U.S. District Judge Darrin Gales in Miami permanently dismissed the lawsuit, ruling that the president failed to prove that the defendants made defamatory statements with actual malice as a matter of law. The judgment said that the trial had attempted to "fabricate" deficiencies in the newspaper's investigative journalism. Once a case is permanently dismissed, it cannot be refiled. The decision is a major blow to Trump and his administration, which has had a contentious relationship with media outlets throughout his second term. In addition to this journal, he has been embroiled in lawsuits involving the BBC, the Associated Press and, most recently, CNN, MS Now and Politico, which have sued him to restore entry after he was kicked out of the White House in mid-September.
