London: The University of Birmingham has apologized after removing a social media post that mistakenly mistook Sikh students for Muslims. The 20-year-old "Langar on Campus" program organized by the university's Sikh Society earlier this month was part of Islamic Awareness Week, the Birmingham Mail reported. A university Instagram account promoted the free food program inspired by the Sikh concept of langar in a post with the text "Discover Islam Week". said Jasveer Singh, spokesperson of the Sikh Press Association (PA), which highlighted the error on its social media platforms. "It is disappointing but shocking that the people in charge of the public image of the University of Birmingham (UoB) are so ignorant of the university's communities," he said.
