Gangster Matru Phillaur police arrested, large quantity of weapons recovered

  Phillaur: The district rural police has arrested a member of the gangster Sukhjinder Baba gang along with the weapons brought to be used in the gang war. The arrested gangster has been identified as Lakhwinder Singh alias Matru resident of Heowal Hema police station Sadar Banga. The police have recovered from him a barrel 12 bore gun with 40 rounds, a 12 bore double barrel gun with 15 rounds, a pistol 45 bore and 3 magazines. While addressing the press conference, SP Sarabjit Singh Bahia and DSP Phillaur Jatinder Singh said that the police station chief Phillaur Surinder Kumar had received information that the gangster of Sukhjinder Baba group Lakhwinder Singh was bringing weapons for gang war. They controlled him by blockade. During interrogation, gangster Lakhwinder told that the Sukhjinder Baba gang has an old enmity with the Khatri group. In 2013, 2014 and 2015, cases of gang war between the two have been registered in Thana City Banga. There is a case against Lakhwinder Singh for fighting in village Khatkar Kalan and dacoity in Nangal in 2016 due to which he was imprisoned in Hoshiarpur Jail for a few months and after coming out of jail in 2020 again a case of fighting in City Nawanshahr. registered In 2021, his house was attacked by the Khatri group, in which Lakhwinder shot Surjit Singh Coonar of the Khatri group. As part of this grudge, Lakhwinder Singh alias Matru's partner Makhan Kang was shot dead by the Khatri group at a petrol pump near village Kang. To avenge this murder, Lakhwinder ordered a large quantity of ammunition from UP. During this period, he has been living secretly in the villages of Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Haryana.
