India-Canada Trade: Canada's initiative to boost trade ties with India

Canada-India Trade Mission: With the aim of giving a new direction to economic and trade relations between India and Canada, Canadian Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu will lead a 300-member 'Team Canada' trade delegation from October 12 to 17. This visit is considered significant for exploring new opportunities and enhancing trade cooperation between the business communities of both nations. According to information released by the Canadian government, this is one of the largest Canadian trade delegations sent to India in the last three decades.

The delegation will focus primarily on Mumbai and Bengaluru, where Canadian companies will engage in discussions with Indian industrialists, investors, and business leaders. Its objective is to strengthen the economic partnership between the two nations by identifying new export opportunities, promoting joint ventures, and boosting employment prospects in Canada.

India's vast market remains a major attraction for Canadian companies. According to data, bilateral trade in goods and services between the two countries reached 30.4 billion Canadian dollars in 2025. During the trade mission, special emphasis will be placed on sectors such as aerospace and space technology, clean energy, information and communication technology, life sciences, healthcare services, agri-food, and forestry products. Infrastructure development in India, the rising demand for energy, and the need for eco-friendly technologies could open up new avenues for collaboration for Canadian companies.
