No possibility of lockdown: Bhagwant Mann

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that there is tension in the whole world due to the war in the Gulf countries, but there is no possibility of imposing a lockdown in such a situation.

Talking to reporters at his residence in Chandigarh today, he said that last night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed various issues in a meeting with the Chief Ministers of all the states. Punjab currently has a stock of six days of gas cylinders, 12 days of petrol and 14 days of diesel; therefore, no one needs to panic or store anything. Action will be taken against those petrol pumps that create queues or sell goods at high prices. A total of 1,497 places were inspected in the state, during which 301 LPG cylinders were seized. The state government has started a helpline number 0172-3321001 for issues related to LPG, petrol and diesel.

He said that India has import agreements with 41 countries and a national stock of 60 days of petrol and diesel and 30 days of LPG stock has already been secured. He welcomed the steps of the central government regarding oil prices. He said that the central government should ensure regular supply of DAP fertilizer, as paddy sowing in Punjab is starting from June 1. The waiting period of 45 days for LPG refill in rural areas should also be reduced to 25 days, the same as in urban areas. He has demanded additional petrol and diesel keeping in mind the wheat season so that the wheat harvest is not affected. Questioning the silence of the center during the Central Asian tension, he said that the country that was supposed to be a world guru has today become a 'world disciple', which is being given approvals to buy oil for a month from the White House in the US, which is wrong.
