Pakistan, which is reeling from water scarcity, is now engaged in water churning, trying to get out of the crisis with the advice of researchers.

Pakistan, which is facing severe water shortage due to India’s suspension of the Indus Water Treaty after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, is now engaged in a water churning to face the current situation and challenges. After being badly beaten in the recent conflict with India, the neighboring country is trying to come out of the water crisis with the advice of its researchers.

According to a report by ‘Dawn’, in this regard, the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs (PIIA) in Karachi organized a seminar on ‘India-Pakistan Conflict’. PIIA President Dr. Masuma Hasan said that ‘After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India suspended the 1960 Indus Water Treaty and Pakistan suspended the 1972 Shimla Agreement. There is a need to hear the voices of all sections, especially the youth, about the recent conflict. Therefore, we decided to call our research assistants for a discussion. It was attended by renowned research assistants like Muhammad Usman, Syeda Maleeha Sehar, Safa Rahmat, Syed Shaharyar Shah, Asif Ali and Saad Asad Brohi.’

Muhammad Usman presented a research paper on ‘Water Resources and Resources’. He said that if India stops the flow of water to Pakistan, it could lead to flooding in its own upstream areas. He said, ‘But if they stop our water during the dry season, it could be a matter of concern for us because the flow of water decreases and storage is most important. It could affect our farmers, leading to lower production.’
