The ruling BJP's ideological guardian organization 'RSS' Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), the economic arm of RSS, today condemned SpaceX founder Elon Musk's statements about India and demanded a ban on the entry of his company Starlink into the country. Starlink, a company owned by Elon Musk, applied for a license to launch and operate commercial satellite broadband services in India, but has not yet received the license (although the application has not been rejected). SJM (SJM) said, "It is unfortunate that instead of responding to the clarity demanded from his company on national security grounds, Elon Musk has chosen to indirectly blame Indian businesses and the government. It appears that Starlink may not be ready to meet those specific requirements." Mahajan said Musk was either trying to get the license by building public pressure against the government or was making such statements out of desperation. In addition, existing telecom companies are cooperating with security and investigative agencies when required and their technology is compatible with national security requirements. SJM said, "Our concern about the security risks associated with Starlink is based on the experiences of Ukraine, Iran, Russia, China, Taiwan, South Africa, Brazil, Venezuela, Sudan and many other countries. The most important examples for national security analysis are Ukraine, Iran, Russia, China and Taiwan." Swadeshi Jagran Manch further said that this incident is not the first instance of its kind. "Mobile Internet technology has continued to improve and evolve. The journey from 2G to 3G, 4G and later 5G technology has steadily increased mobile data speeds." "The Indian government started efforts to roll out 5G technology in 2019, although the technology was not fully developed within the country till then," the institute said. Global competition for 5G technology was limited to a few companies, among which China's Huawei was the most competitive in terms of price. At the time, SJM opposed Huawei's involvement due to security concerns. After SJM's protest, neither Huawei nor another Chinese company, ZTE, was allowed to conduct the trial (experimental phase). Meanwhile, Indian companies and scientists working on developing 5G technology have finally developed 5G technology, known as '5Gi'. Today, along with the existing indigenous 4G technology, 5Gi technology has already been implemented in many places across the country.
