At a time when India and Canada are moving to strengthen bilateral ties in the areas of trade, energy, technology and security, banned pro-Khalistan outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has announced to hold a referendum event on October 18 in Edmonton, Alberta. The event raised concerns as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney agreed to deepen a strategic partnership covering trade, energy, technology, security and people-to-people ties. Reflecting growing trade engagement, Canada has sent a delegation of more than 300 trade representatives to India, the country's largest trade mission in more than three decades. The delegation under the leadership of Canada's International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu is visiting Mumbai and Bengaluru from October 12 to 17.
