US Visa Fraud: Eleven Indian nationals living in the US illegally have been charged with serious visa fraud. According to prosecutors, the men conspired to stage ‘fake armed robberies’ in stores to obtain green cards. The scheme was aimed at getting store clerks to apply for ‘U-Visas’, which allow victims of violent crimes to live and work in the US, by posing as ‘fake victims’ of the crime. The accused include Jitendra Kumar Patel, Mahesh Kumar Patel and Sanjay Kumar Patel, a total of 11 people, who were living in states such as Massachusetts, Kentucky and Ohio. According to the investigation, these people used to pay the store owners to stage a fake robbery, in which a 'robber' would brandish a weapon and flee with cash from the till, and the entire incident would be captured on CCTV. After this, these 'victims' would file a false report with the police.
