India-US trade framework: Tax on Indian goods will be reduced by 18 percent

  India and the US announced on Saturday that they have agreed on the framework for an interim trade agreement, under which the tax levied on New Delhi will be reduced to 18 percent. According to the agreement, India will eliminate or reduce tariffs on all US industrial goods and a wide range of US food and agricultural products, including dry distillers grains, red sorghum for animal feed, tree nuts, fresh and processed fruits, soybean oil, wine and spirits and other products. "The United States and India are pleased to announce that they have reached a framework for an interim agreement on mutual and beneficial trade," a joint statement issued by the two countries said. The statement added that the framework was signed on February 13, 2025 by President Donald J. Reaffirms the countries' commitment to negotiating a comprehensive US-India Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) initiated by Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
