Online betting: Raina and Dhawan's assets worth Rs 11.14 crore attached

  The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth Rs 11.14 crore of former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan in a money laundering case related to the operation of an alleged illegal betting website. Official sources said today that orders have been issued against online betting site '1xBet' under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to attach immovable property worth Rs 4.5 crore of Dhawan and mutual funds worth Rs 6.64 crore of Raina. According to the investigation by the federal agency, both the cricketers entered into agreements with foreign entities to promote '1xBet' and its associates despite being aware of the situation. Apart from these, the ED also questioned cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa, actors Sonu Sood, Urvashi Rautela, Mimi Chakraborty (former TMC MP) and Ankush Hazra (Bengali actor) etc. Registered in the Caribbean island of Curacao, '1xBet' has been described as a globally recognized bookmaker (portal) with 18 years of experience in the betting business through the portal.
