Paving the way for Bhagwant Mann's visit to France; The High Court allowed the petition challenging the central refusal decision

The decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has paved the way for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's visit to France today. The High Court today allowed the Punjab government's plea challenging the central government's denial of political approval for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's proposed visit to France. It is learned that the Chief Minister has reached Delhi today and will leave for France tomorrow.
The Union Ministry of External Affairs, citing security reasons and the absence of a formal invitation letter from the French government, refused to allow Chief Minister Mann to visit France. On behalf of the Punjab Government, this decision of the Central Government was challenged in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Today, the Punjab government has got relief with the decision of the High Court.

A bench of Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya allowed the petition after a lengthy hearing. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is scheduled to participate in the International Food Trade Fair to be held in Paris from October 17 to 21. Markfed's stall was allotted under the India Pavilion by the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, an organization under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

According to the petition filed by the Punjab government, the Indian Mission in France was consulted. All the expenses of this visit were to be borne by Markfed. The Punjab government described the central government's refusal as an unnecessary entry into the federal structure.
