Deal reached with Chinese President Xi on tariffs: Trump

  US President Donald Trump met his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping at an air base in South Korea on Thursday. After the meeting, which lasted about an hour and 40 minutes, Trump claimed that he had reached an agreement with China to reduce tariffs. The US president said that in return, Beijing would resume purchases of US soybeans, continue exports of rare earth minerals and take action against the illegal trade in fentanyl.

According to sources, the agreement will reduce the 57 percent tariff on Chinese imports by 10 percent. The two leaders discussed tariffs, computer chips, rare earth minerals and other issues of conflict during the meeting. After meeting with Xi, Trump left for Washington.
