A woman pilgrim from Punjab who went missing due to a snow slide on the Hemkunt Yatra path has died, the rest of the family is safe

  Chamoli: A woman pilgrim from Amritsar, who went missing due to a snow slide in Atlakoti on the Hemkunt pilgrimage route, died. The body of the woman was buried under the snow in Atlakoti gadere (drain) about 300 feet below the gorge. The ITBP and SDRF team managed to find the body after three hours of hard work. Hemkunt Sahib Yatra has been smoothed out on Monday after repairing the footpath damaged by the avalanche.

10 members of a family residing in Amritsar came on a pilgrimage to Hemkunt Sahib. This group went to Hemkunt Sahib from Ghanghari on Sunday morning and returned at five in the evening. At a distance of two kilometers from Dham, at Atlakoti, six members of the party were hit by an avalanche and fell into a ravine. There were two Kandi operators with the passengers, they took out Jaspreet Singh, her daughter Mansirat Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Pushpapreet Kaur and Ravneet Kaur safely from the gorge with the help of the nearby shopkeepers. Meanwhile, Jaspreet's wife Kamaljit Kaur was found by the SDRF till 9 pm, but nothing was found about her. The search operation was resumed at five o'clock on Monday morning. Therefore, 20 NDRF personnel were also called, but before their arrival, the body of Kamaljit Kaur was recovered at around eight o'clock. There, the injured members were sent to Ghangaria for primary treatment after being hit by Himkhand. After this, all the nine members of the family were brought to Govindghat by helicopter.
